NCCDC is co-op inspired. What does that mean?
Our school is fully staffed with highly educated teachers who have been trained to work with and support families. Unlike many traditional child care centers, the parents in our community are invited to take an active role in their child's education.
Parents are able to spend time in the classroom so that they can become familiar with the learning environment, get to know the teachers on a deeper level, and have a window into their child's peer relationships. Parents also are invited to join the parent board and work with the director to come up with policies, tuition rates, and goals for the school.
The cooperative model encourages unity between staff and families to give children the best possible learning opportunities and give parents the opportunity to really know the teachers who are caring for their children. We encourage families to befriend other families at the school through optional community social events like our annual pumpkin patch meet up, Oxbow park camping, monthly weekend park playdates, and parents night out events throughout the year.
Parent Participation
Parent participation is an essential part of the NCCDC community. Each family is expected to contribute between four and eight hours of volunteer time per month, based on the number of days they are enrolled. Most families will fulfill this obligation through two hour shifts in their child's classroom. Parents, guardians, grandparents and relatives are welcome to participate in the fulfillment of their family’s commitment.
If the time commitment would be a hardship for your family we are happy to make accommodations, we just want you to be a part of the community in a way that works best for your family!
